Beating the Performance Plateau
Are you increasingly spending more on acquisition and repeat custom? Are the strategies that once worked so well doubling in costs, or even failing altogether?
The diagnosis could well be the dreaded Performance Plateau, which is helpfully detailed in this article from Marketing Week (link in first comment).
Part of the problem has been the general trend towards focussing all the money and energy at performance management solutions, and forgetting that - when all’s said and done - customers become loyal to brands who offer great products and excellent service. Sure, a discount often works to chivy up some end-of-quarter sales, but it does not build long-term loyalty.
And long term loyalty leads to advocacy, which has one of the highest conversion rates around.
As Marketing Week very accurately points out: “Getting beyond the performance plateau takes a lot. Leadership, vision, culture, the right team and structure. Training, education, expertise and experience. Aligned KPIs and incentives.”
